I personally think eateries are for blind dates and meetings. Why are lovers flocking eateries? I don’t think I dressed up to go out on a date only to just sit down somewhere and talk with my lover. I also do not think I dressed up to go and get undressed in minutes at his place. Why are dates so typical?

“Eateries are more affordable. You have a place to sit and talk,” Chris tells me. Oh! So that’s why. But, there are other affordable places that you can go to and still avoid a risky spread of the lurking virus.

The beach

Although beaches are also very crowded during festive seasons, a beach is one of the best places where you can have fun with your lover. A walk along the seashore when it’s not so crowded is a good time to talk and be blessed with an outpour from mother nature. However, please avoid the beach when it’s a festive day. We had a crowd at a beach in Lagos this January and it got most people who attended infected with COVID-19.

Movie nights

I would recommend a scary movie. Love movies are so cliché. You can only ask for what you don’t have – you have love already. I remember going on a movie date. I was expecting a typical love movie but I was made to watch a scary movie. I was screaming my heart out.

Smith just kept laughing at me. I didn’t care and I wasn’t the only one. When I saw an elephant-sized man screaming like a hen about to be killed, I knew I was not the strange one. “You being scared was so cute to watch,” Smith tells me when I got home. I knew he was just saying it and laughing at me on the other end but as I said, that was the last thing on my mind.

Notwithstanding, a scary movie makes you express yourself so, I’d recommend that anytime.

Attend a stage performance

Cinemas no longer have the same exciting reception as they did before. With Netflix on your phone and the right amount of data, you could watch anything with anybody.

On this other end, you can’t have stage performances in your house. The moment it gets on your phone, it loses its essence. This is why I’d recommend this one. I’ve acted on stage and I have been made to master acts and lines and it’s only thrilling to see people who can do it better.

A Picnic

A Picnic date is just refreshing. With your food and/or fruits, your lover, tranquil scenery, the perfect playful outfits, board games, mind games, and cool pictures, picnics win it for me.

You can also have double-dates – your friends and their lovers or loved ones and you are paired or you can have a merrier party. This can also happen on beaches as well so, it’s cool.

Karaoke

Please reconsider if you have a terrible voice to avoid annoying your lover. I would think you planned to kill me afterward.

On the other hand, if you have a mind-blowing voice, you could be singing your way into a romantic night. I could just… Never mind.

A cook in

This could also be fun. It’s a love-and-learn trick so, it is highly welcomed. It’s also in-house so it doesn’t have to be under the sheets every time.

I love plantains so, I would want to try out all the plantain recipes. You can do the same with your favourite food. Couples cooking together can be adorable and sexy as well.

Game night

Count me out of video games. I have tried to learn and I seem to shoot myself or make terrible home goals. But, if you are the type who loves games, why not. Tell you a secret? It gets men spun when they see a female with games or interest in football.

For me, board games do the trick.

A visit to art galleries

This one touches me every time. There are many art galleries around as I have a deep interest in art. Although, not everybody appreciates art like me. So, it should not be an every-girl-loves-it move.

Finally, dates are very romantic no matter where they happen. The conscious effort to make them memories keeps them priceless.
