Begging Question: Do you talk about your death?

We all have different relationships with death and approach death differently
your death

Death, as we all know, is inevitable – we will all get there at some point. Hopefully, not anytime soon (knock on wood). Everyone knows everyone has to die at some point. It is guaranteed, but most people shy away from conversations of death. Reasons may include; fear of upsetting or triggering your loved ones, denial (the fact that if we talk about it, it suddenly becomes real to us). Some people think about it but don’t talk about it.

I think about death a lot these days, is it even normal?

We all have different relationships with death and approach it differently. This is shaped by our beliefs, religion, experience, outlook, culture, upbringing, or a combination of any of these factors. Talking about death may be uncomfortable, but it’s a conversation that needs to be had. When you’re gone, your loved ones get stuck with decisions that have to be made, and although these decisions don’t concern the person who is already dead, it makes life easier for those who are left to make the decisions.

Today on Begging Question, I’d like to hear from you. Do you ever talk about your death? Like what should happen in the event of your death.

Is your experience the same as Maria’s?

I used to, but I figured it makes people around me uncomfortable so, I stopped. But it’s a conversation I have with myself very often because I know firsthand how random death is. I have a will that has tidied up all my affairs, and my husband knows where it is.

Are your family members forbidding the inevitable?

I’ve always told them I want to be cremated and ashes spread on the sea. The day I told my mum and dad, they said ‘God forbid.’ I’m telling my kids the same thing. Please, don’t start digging a grave and buying a coffin. Save your money

I am too focused on my family to be thinking about death. I lost a family member last week, and the reminder came that it can happen at any time. So one needs to be Prepared.

I don’t think talking about it is necessary.

Well, this topic is weird. But, I am too full of positive thoughts to be thinking about death. Has it crossed my mind, yes a few times, when it does I am reminded of the need to leave an impactful legacy. You Only Live Once

I actually think about it. Sometimes I fear, sometimes I try to picture those I will leave behind. Since all humans are destined to die one day, I had to get use to it and stop thinking about it.

Funny Enough I have never really talked about it. I think about it and I just think to myself : The people around me will do what’s right.

I’ve thought about it and when I talked about it, the subject was changed immediately. I think the reason why people don’t talk about it is because of the superstition behind the idea that death comes unannounced. When I get that reaction from people, I just feel they love me too much to accommodate the thought of loosing me.🙈

I have an idea of how I want my remains to be treated after I take off from this body. I’ve shared with my partner. I think the fact it makes people uncomfortable is the main reason we barely talk about our death.

Plus a bit of the superstition that you may just be calling it. Lol. Then after you die, folks see on your social media and say “see, her last status. She knew she would die.” Heheh.
