10 unhealthy foods you need to stop eating

Hello, Talku Talku People! We will be focusing on some of the unhealthy foods we really need to stop eating because they contribute to weight gain. Weight gain or weight loss shouldn’t be the only reason we watch what we put in our mouths. There are harmful chemicals, unhealthy carbs and unsaturated fats to worry about. We will be discussing 10 unhealthy foods we shouldn’t be eating below:

Butter

Butter otherwise known as margarine contains high amounts of trans-fat. Although not all kinds of margarine have only trans-fat. Some brands contain unsaturated fats which are also called ‘good fats’. Trans-fat and saturated fats can cause an increase in blood cholesterol levels and the risk of heart disease.Consuming butter also reduces your good cholesterol level. It’s usually better to check the ingredients of the butter you are getting and check out for words like ‘partially hydrogenated’. When you see that on the butter wrapper, it means that the oil content has been altered and could most likely increase one’s bad cholesterol.

Soda

Beverages that are sugar-sweetened are really unhealthy and it is one of the causes of weight gain. This is mainly because soda contains a lot of calories and liquid calories are not satisfying. This doesn’t make up for food so, you end up eating like you normally would. This just means that you have taken more calories than you need.

White Bread

White bread contains a lot of sugar and is high on the glycemic index and can dangerously spike your blood sugar levels. There are other healthy bread options that could be consumed in place of white bread. Please ensure to research other healthy choices.

Pastries

Pastries are snacks that have flour in them. Pastries, cookies, and cakes contain unhealthy ingredients that are really bad for health. These ingredients can also be harmful especially when combined. Pastries can be really delicious and irresistible but your body will thank you for resisting the temptation.

Alcohol

I know this is hard to hear but alcohol, especially beer, contains a lot of calories. Beer can cause weight gain or something we call beer gut if taken in excess. Drinking wine may be good if done in moderation.

Ice Cream

As tempting as this looks and sounds, it is very unhealthy. Do not fall for it guys, it is incredibly high in calories and lots of sugar. Taking ice cream in small portions once in a blue moon is fine but it becomes a problem if it is consumed in large amounts at a sitting.

French Fries & Potato Chips

Potato is very healthy when cooked but really unhealthy when fried. The same goes for French fries as they are linked to weight gain. I understand that giving things that you love up can be hard. There are other healthy ways to eat potatoes. So, it’s advisable that we avoid frying our potatoes.

Sausages

Sausages and hot dogs are processed meats. We all know that processed meats are high in saturated fats and have high levels of advanced glycation end products (AGEs). Sausages contain nitrates and nitrites because of the high heat cooking methods.

Candies

I think this goes without saying. Candies contain ridiculously high amounts of sugar. They increase your chances of clogging your arteries and the sugars in them can be addictive. Studies have also shown that consuming lots of sugar could make it really hard for kids to concentrate. They get a sugar rush and become really hyperactive.

Bottled Water

E shock you? This one shock me too but it’s true. Bottled waters have some scary toxins that hide in storage containers. BPA is a chemical found in almost all food packaging plastics. According to a study in Clinical and Experimental Reproductive Medicine, this chemical can cause early puberty in females, obesity, hormonal changes, and even increased rates of reproductive cancers. It’s bad news guys.
